Rediscover Australia’s Golden Outback

gulflander station

Don’t just watch the train go past, jump on and rediscover northern Australia’s golden past. The Gulflander offers an unforgettable rail journey, crossing countryside from wetlands and grasslands to arid savannah territory most people will never see.

Affectionately said to go from ‘nowhere to nowhere’, the Heritage Listed Normanton to Croydon line was never connected to the state rail network. Its sole purpose was to connect the river port of Normanton, with the goldfields of Croydon. Today, it still has an important role to play and is considered one of the iconic tourism experiences along the Savannah Way.

The rail journey takes five hours each way, with single and return fares available. For more information, visit
